Message from the Dean, Faculty of Engineering

Request to support PEFAA initiatives to carry out a face-lifting of infrastructure at the Faculty to Celebrate Diamond Jubilee of the Faculty of Engineering, Peradeniya.

As you are aware, the Faculty will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee on 1st July 2025. To emphasis this 75 Years of dedicated service to Engineering education of this country, series of activities starting from 1st July 2024 are being planned. The list of activities includes research symposium, promotional event at Techno 2024, activities at schools by present students, exhibition open to general public etc. It is envisaged that general public including senior engineers, administrative officers, foreign delegates, students from other universities and schools will visit the Faculty during this period.

It was noted that the general appearance and some basic infrastructure facilities at the Faculty are not adequate to cater for such influx of people. Moreover, the batch size is now 455 and there are 5 batches physically at the Faculty during regular semester time. Considering all the above facts, it is imperative that a face lifting is given to the Faculty infrastructure prior to starting the Diamond Jubilee celebration related activities.

I am happy to note that, after realizing the timely importance of this activity the Faculty and PEFAA have identified urgent and essential infrastructure improvements and upgrading required to improve the delivery of undergraduate study programs, after consulting all stake holders and prepared necessary reports/ estimates etc.

Accordingly, I kindly request all alumni groups to support its Alma Mater at this crucial time of economic downturn of the country, where no government funding is available for this type of work.

Thanking you in advance.

Dr. Udaya Dissanayake
Dean/ Faculty of Engineering

Message from the President, PEFAA

PEFAA needs the support of its MEMBERS to support the Faculty

As alumni of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Peradeniya, we are sure that you all are looking for ways to give back to our beloved faculty and invest in the next generation. We have the perfect opportunity for you all !

Over the past 31 years, PEFAA has done a yeoman service to the faculty with your support. With the Diamond Jubilee of Engineering Education in Sri Lanka scheduled for 1st July 2025 we are thrilled to make that event a success with whatever contributions we all can make.

With the faculty staff members PEFAA has identified 75 projects for implementation and PEFAA is thankful to the past committees, Dean, Heads of Department, Faculty Academic staff members and especially Dr. Kamalanath Samarakoon for finalizing the project list seeking funds.

PEFAA needs the support of its alumni to support the Faculty. Your donation would go toward uplifting the Faculty appearance and upgrading facilities in improving the undergraduate course delivery. Your donation will help us create a better learning environment where our students can thrive and reach their full potential. We understand the commitment this donation requires. However, every donation is an investment in the future of Engineering education at our faculty.

We at PEFAA are looking for donations of all kinds: monetary, material and services. Every donation helps us reach our goal of providing the required educational experiences to our students. All donations are appreciated, and all donors will be recognized on our website and other social media. Any amount that you can donate will make an impact, no matter how large or small. Donations such as money, products and services are all useful to our cause. With your help, our students can look forward to having more resources while pursuing their dreams.

The projects that require the support of the alumni is listed separately in the Newsletter, Web and other social media sites and we would appreciate if the batches or groups or individuals take up the projects. We are glad to announce that E74 Batch has agreed to take up 3 projects from the 2nd list of projects and many alumni have shown a keen interest to get involved.

We appreciate your time and consideration, as together, we can make a difference in the future of our faculty. A dedicated bank account has been opened at Bank of Ceylon, University branch to receive the contributions and monthly income and expenses statements will be shared with our members to keep the process transparent.
